Nine Norwegian Age-Tech Startups You Should Know

Despite having a population of only 5 million people, Norway seems to be embracing Age-Tech head on. Here are nine Norwegian Age-Tech startups you should know.

Dele Health is a “people first” IoT company. As IoT veterans, their senior care platform streamlines communication, medical information, health preventive measures, welfare technology and alarm handling. It also tackles one of the toughest and most common problems in senior care – falls. Their radar, which can be installed in any room, is able to detect falls and provide elderly-care professionals with real-time alerts. Dele Health has a partnership with Vayyar, maker of the Walabot fall detection device.

Dignio developed a remote care system that makes it possible for healthcare providers to offer a new remote care service. It allows healthcare personnel can follow up on patients. They patients use the patient app, MyDignio, and can also use a number of connected measuring devices to track blood pressure, sugar levels, oxygen saturation as well as weight, temperature and lung function.

RoomMate developed a monitoring solution for nursing homes, assisted living facilities and private homes. It alerts the caregiver for a number of critical situations such falls. RoomMate is being used in municipalities across Norway.

Sensio is Norway’s largest player in welfare technology and smart houses with over 160 municipalities and 10,000 smart house installations. Founded in 2009, Sensio’s security and monitoring platform helps employees, residents and relatives feel safe and secure.

Motitech developed Motiview – a bicycle training program for stationary bikes in senior living communities. It Stimulates older people and people with dementia to be more physically and cognitively active. By using an exercise bike, video and sound, the users can take cycle trips through familiar surroundings and childhood memories. They also created a global competition called “Road Worlds for Seniors”, in which older people all over the world can compete with each other for the gold medal.

NoIsolation addresses the epidemic of loneliness and social isolation. A lack of social connections has a serious impact on people’s physical and mental health. They developed the KOMP, that allows children and grandchildren to share photos, messages and make video calls to grandparents. $10.6M.

HØAR (Hear IT) created smart hearing aids that can give users a personalized listening experience. HØAR offers lending equipment, so you can find your perfect hearing aid.

Listen developed their technology in partnership with the leading Scandinavian research organization SINTEF. They help people hear better, in normal conversations and when listening to music, watching TV, and at concerts, conferences and in other environments where quality listening is challenging. Their app, MobileEars is designed to enhance listening experience while watching TV and in other daily situations.

Assistep – created an award-winning device that helps people use the stairs. Since the stairs are one of the most dangerous places in the house, this simple and elegant solution can definitely promote safer aging-in-place.
